The Monument – Construction

The National Wall of Remembrance Association, along with the City of Kingston has now completed the approval stages, final design and construction on the project is scheduled to begin in Spring 2023 for the monument which will be located in the waterfront area of Kingston, near the Martello Tower. We encourage you to check back regularly for updates on the official groundbreaking ceremony, construction and final unveiling of the project!

The monument will be made up of 4 granite columns, each depicting conflicts and humanitarian missions in which Canadian Soldiers sacrificed their lives for our country. The conflicts range from the War of 1812 through to Afghanistan.

Along side these columns will be stone benches with crests representing all of the provinces and territories in Canada. For those that would like to add to the experience of the monument, a smartphone app is currently being developed to allow the visitor to have a guided walk-through of conflicts and humanitarian missions.

A kiosk will also be onsite to host The Virtual Component of the monument; The Canadian Fallen. Here you will find over 120,000 soldier profiles of all Canadians who died during active service or training in Canada and abroad. The Canadian Fallen can also be accessed online at
