Addition of Memorial Plaques to the Estevan Cenotaph and Shield at the Estevan Legion
The addition of an updated memorial plaque on the Estevan cenotaph with the inclusion of twenty-seven names from the First World War, 10 from the Second World War and one from the War in Afghanistan, in addition to a new bronze shield mounted at the Estevan branch of the Royal Canadian Legion to commemorate the sacrifice of Afghanistan for all those who lost their lives in that conflict, as well as those who served and came back to the community was made possible with funding from the NWORA Community Memorials Programme. The dedication ceremony took place on Remembrance Day 2023 with approximately 30 people in attendance.

The Estevan cenotaph is going to have an addition later this year, thanks to the efforts of a local military historian. Craig Bird with the South East Military Museum said there were names missing from the cenotaph, and so it needs to be updated with a new plaque that will be on the southeast corner… [read more]

NWORA Education Outreach Programme
The NWORA Education Outreach Programme (EOP) is aimed at establishing a living memorial to the Fallen in the minds and hearts of young Canadians across the country. The EOP partners with the “Lest We Forget Project” to connect Legions with local boards of Education, to consider researching a local or family-related member of the Fallen as part of their educational program.
