The Memorial – Construction


Construction on the National Memorial to the Fallen began June 2025 and continues throughout the summer months.

Official unveiling to take place on Saturday 1 November 2025.

The memorial is a partnership between the National Wall of Remembrance Association (NWORA) and the City of Kingston, dedicated to honouring the more than 120,000 Canadian veterans who lost their lives as a result of military service to our nation.

Memorial Construction Progress – September 2025

The month began with the Mascon team pouring concrete into the space surrounding the forms which will hold the National Memorial to the Fallen granite pillars.

Memorial Construction Progress – August 2025

With form work complete, the Mascon Restorations team started the month by pouring concrete into the forms at the site of Canada’s National Memorial to the Fallen. The concrete was left for 2-3 days, afterwhich the forms were removed and filled with gravel.

Memorial Construction Progress – July 2025

Work has begun by the craftsmen of Mascon Restorations to build the first forms on the site of the future National Memorial to Canada’s Fallen and is progressing quickly.

Site Excavation – June 2025

Barr Construction began site excavation for the National Memorial to the Fallen on 23 June 2025 and construction will continue throughout the summer months.

Column Mockup Examination and Site Discussion – September 2023

Prior to excavation commencing for the memorial base, a coord with city representative took place on 7 September 2023 to confirm exact site location and to discuss a few final construction details including tree removal. For this discussion, the NWORA team erected a rough mockup of one of the four columns for the memorial in order to confirm column size and exact location.
